This Privacy Policy explains how Lunar Apps LLC ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Bible Habit mobile application ("the App") on iPhone and Android.
If you have any questions, contact us at 📧 contact@lunarapps.io.
Most of what the App remembers never leaves your phone. This includes your reading progress and completed days, your streak history, saved verses, your reading position, your chosen Bible translation, your reminder time, your audio voice and speed settings, your appearance setting, and any avatar photo you choose. If you never create an account, this information stays on your device.
The App does not ask you to sign up. The first time you use a feature that needs our servers (a Crew, a study tool, or a Bible translation that is streamed rather than built in), the App creates an anonymous account for you in the background. We store:
Please read this part. A Crew is a small group you choose to join. Anything you contribute to a Crew is visible to the other members of that Crew, including your display name, whether you completed today's reading, your current streak, any note you attach to a check-in, messages you post to the Crew thread, and nudges you send. Do not put anything in a Crew that you would not want those people to read.
When you use Explain Easier, Deeper Study, or Related Verses, we send the verse reference and the verse text (and, for some tools, reference material about that verse) to an AI provider, which writes the study note. We do not send your identifier, your name, or anything you have typed. We keep usage counts for a few days to apply fair-use limits.
If you subscribe, the purchase is handled by Apple (on iPhone) or Google Play (on Android). We never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to tell us whether your subscription is active. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user identifier and your purchase information from Apple or Google Play in order to do that.
To understand how the App is used and to fix problems, the App sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, our analytics provider. These include which screens you open, which features you use (for example, finishing a reading or opening a study tool), answers you give during onboarding (such as what you hope to get from the App), whether you have Pro, your streak length, and basic device information (device model, operating system, app version, language, and screen size). Events are tied to a random identifier created on your device, not to your name. PostHog may estimate an approximate location (such as country or city) from your IP address. We do not record your screen, and we do not collect your precise location.
Analytics are on by default. You can turn them off at any time in Settings → Share usage data, which stops the App from sending any further analytics events.
Our servers receive ordinary technical information when the App talks to them, such as your IP address, the type of request, and the time it was made. When you read a licensed Bible translation, the App sends an anonymous, randomly generated identifier and a usage token to API.Bible, because the text provider requires anonymous usage reporting to its publishers. That identifier is not linked to your name or account. If you choose to download the optional on-device reading voice, it is downloaded from Hugging Face, which sees your IP address as part of the download.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent it.
| Provider | What it does | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Anonymous accounts, Crews, daily content and audio, and file storage | Your anonymous account identifier, display name, Crew membership and content, and technical request data |
| PostHog | Usage analytics (can be turned off in Settings) | Anonymous usage events, a random device identifier, basic device information, and your IP address, from which an approximate location may be estimated |
| OpenAI | Writing study notes | The verse reference, the verse text, and reference material about that verse. No user identifier. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription status | An anonymous app user identifier and purchase information |
| Apple and Google | App Store and Google Play purchases, and notifications scheduled on your device | Governed by Apple's and Google's own privacy policies |
| API.Bible | Licensed Bible translations | The passage requested and an anonymous usage identifier |
| Hugging Face | Hosting the optional on-device reading voice | Your IP address, only if you download the voice |
Each provider has its own privacy policy, and we encourage you to read them. Bible text in the King James Version and the calm footage shown during prayer are served from our own storage, so no third party learns what you are reading or praying about from them.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we process it, or receive it in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@lunarapps.io and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
You can also act directly in the App: leave a Crew at any time, delete your own Crew messages, change or clear your display name and avatar, turn notifications off, turn analytics off, and delete your data as described below.
In the App: open the Profile tab, tap the gear icon, and choose Delete account. This immediately and permanently deletes, from our servers, your anonymous account, display name, Crew memberships, check-ins, Crew messages, nudges, and blocks. It also erases the reading progress, streak, and saved verses stored on your phone. Deleting your data does not cancel a subscription; cancel it in the App Store or Google Play.
By email: if you no longer have the App, email contact@lunarapps.io with the subject "Bible Habit data deletion". Because the App has no sign-in, include your Crew name and display name if you used Crews, so we can find your data. We will delete it within 30 days.
What we keep: if another member reported one of your Crew messages, we keep a copy of that report (the message text, without your account identifier) so we can enforce our rules. Anonymous analytics events already sent are not linked to your name and are kept in aggregate; turning off Share usage data stops new ones. RevenueCat and Apple or Google Play keep purchase records as their own policies and the law require. Anonymous usage counts for study tools are removed automatically within about a week.
The App's content is suitable for a general audience. However, creating an account and using Crew features requires you to be at least 13 years old, or at least 16 if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below those ages. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and database access rules that prevent one user from reading another user's private data. No online service can be completely secure, and you are responsible for keeping your device secure.
We keep account and Crew information for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we remove it along with your Crew messages and check-ins, except for the items described under Deleting Your Data and anything we are legally required to keep. Information stored only on your device is removed when you delete the App.
Your information may be stored and processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to that transfer and storage.
If our company is acquired or merged, your information may be transferred to the new owner, subject to this Privacy Policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the App or in the law. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the App. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
This Privacy Policy and your use of the App are governed by the laws of the State of Texas and the United States of America, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
